Our Services
Only research proven therapy techniques, known as "evidence-based" practices, are used in treating our clients.  These types of therapy include:
Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT),
Exposure and Response Prevention
(E/RP),
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT),
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT pronounced as the word act), Mindfulness, and
Positive Psychology.

In addition to individual therapy, we offer couples counseling, family therapy, and education for family members.

E/RP is an effective form of therapy in the treatment of OCD and phobias.

Mindfulness is an attitude in which people pay purposeful attention to the present moment in specific, non-judgmental ways.  Mindfulness training involves learning de-centering skills in which people come to realize that thoughts are just thoughts and not fully representative of one's reality.

Positive Psychology   focuses not only on solving a person's problems and eliminating symptoms but also on using their strengths in order to improve their quality of life.  Techniques of positive psychology not only help a person feel better but also promote psychological flexibility and resiliancy which foster strength and growth in the individual for the future.
CBT is a form of treatment that focuses on the inter-relationships between thinking, feeling, and behaving.  In CBT, people learn to reinterpret life situations in ways that are more helpful and effective for them.  CBT helps people plan and put into place behaviors that are more consistent with their values and interests.

DBT is a form of CBT which is especially helpful for people with difficulties regulating their emotions.  It emphasizes skill building in core mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal relationships.

ACT is a form of therapy that uses commitment, acceptance, behavior and mindfulness strategies together with behavior change strategies in order to increase psychological flexibility and live according to one's chosen values.
